>From what you've said above, you don't actually want to install net-snmp
"over" the HP-provided agent.   There's no problem about installing the
two systems side-by-side, as they will use completely different files.

You don't need to disable the Net-SNMP agent - unless you explicitly start
it running, then it won't be active anyway.

This question doesn't make sense.

No - installing Net-SNMP will not affect the HP agent or HP-UX mibs.

Yes - the Net-SNMP snmptrapd application will catch *any* notifications,
whether standard IETF-defined traps, or vendor-specific ones.

That's fine.
Compile and install the software, and then start the "snmptrapd"
processes (with a suitable configuration).   That should provide
the facilities you are requested.
