The Net-SNMP agent *does* support both SMUX and AgentX,
so has already done this integration. There's not much point
in a subagent supporting both protocols.

What I was trying to say was that the SMUX support in the Net-SNMP
agent isn't really being developed or actively maintained. You can
use it if you need to, but there isn't much expertise within the main
development team if you run into problems.

I haven't looked at the radiusd code, but I would agree that the lack
of any mention of snmp/SMUX is rather suspicious.
I would suggest you check with the FreeRadius documentation
as to whether the SMUX support is active by default, or whether
you need to do something to turn it on.

It would also be worth looking at the file
/usr/local/etc/raddb/snmp.conf

What does that contain?

That feels as if the Net-SNMP agent is listening for SMUX requests,
but the radiusd isn't connecting to it. So I would definitely ask the
FreeRadius people (or check with their documentation) about how
to activate the SMUX subagent capabilities.

As Thomas said, the 5.1.2 release is probably not the best one to
use here, but given the complete lack of any activity, I do suspect
that radiusd isn't actually trying to act as a SMUX subagent at all.

See above - check the radius documentation for how to activate the SMUX
support. And then try with a more recent version of the Net-SNMP agent.
