Hi,

In snmpd.conf (man page) there is a instruction for execute a
script (see next line):

exec .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.50 shelltest /bin/sh /tmp/shtest

but /bin/sh belongs to linux. What is the instructions for windows?

Thanks!

I got run a script using the an example in snmpd.conf file.
This file has the instruction:
exec .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.50 shelltest /bin/sh /tmp/shtest

I have my own Personal Enterprises Number (PEN).
What should be done to change the branch? Instead 2021
(U.C. Davis, EC Dept. Tom), my PEN?

Simply change the numeric OID listed in the exec line.
Replace '2021' with your PEN, and '50' with the location
you want this output to appear in your private subtree.

The choice of where to put this is totally up to you - the agent
doesn't care. They're all just numbers anyway!

One thing you may wish to consider is to use
"extend .1.3.6.1.3.1.xxxx.yyyy... shelltest /bin/sh /tmp/shtext"
instead

One of the problems with the "exec" command is that the output
of this "relocatable" form doesn't actually form a valid MIB structure
(and it's therefore been dropped from the most recent release line).
The "extend" directive is similar, but has a newer, more complete,
more flexible, and above all *legal* output structure.
The same structure is also used for both

extend {name} {script}
and
extend {OID} {name} {script}

so you can re-use the NET-SNMP-EXTEND-MIB definitions
for your relocated output (simply by changing the root of
the tree, and renaming the MIB).
