The best source is from the documentation for the device in question. Lacking that, a binary search using snmpget can disclose some limits. It's unlikely there will be a completely firm number, given that octet strings can vary in length and the number of OIDs available in a single call will be limited by several factors, including the MTU on the network segment and available mamory inside the device. Embedded SNMP agents may face stricter limitations than larger, more fully-provisioned systems. -- Roy M.
