Any help regarding the following issue will be greatly appreciated: - I have set up a snmp trap sink 1 that receives traps from a trap agent and then forwards those traps to another snmp trap sink 2. The issue is that when the trap is forwarded to trap sink 2, the ip address of the original trap sender(trap agent) is not retained. Could anyone please advice me on how can I retain the the original sender's IP address when the trap is forwarded. I have included all the necessary information about the trap agent, trap sink 1 & trap sink 2 below . The more information you can provide me the better. Also, I am new to this field and only have basic knowledge about SNMP. Therefore, simple explanations would be greatly appreciated These are all Linux boxes TRAP AGENT --- IP - 10.0.0.215 (Ubuntu) snmpd.conf contains the following : - trapsink 10.0.0.115 Command used to send traps : - snmptrap -v 1 -c abc 10.0.0.115 '' '' 0 0 '' TRAP SINK 1: - IP - 10.0.0.115 (SUSE SLES 10) The trap recieved from 'trap agent' 10.0.0.215 looks like the following: 2008-05-21 14:37:13 10.0.0.215(via UDP: [10.0.0.215] : 32784) TRAP, SNMP v1, community abc SNMPv2-SMI: : enterprises.3.1.1 Cold Start Trap (0) Uptime: 7 days, 17:37:41.33 TRAP DEAMON (snmptrapd.conf) for trapsink1 contains the following : - disableAuthorization yes forward default 10.0.0.107 TRAP SINK 2 : - IP - 10.0.0.107 (SUSE SLES 10) The trap(original) forwarded from 'trapsink1' 10.0.0.115 looks like the following: 2008-05-21 14:37:13 10.0.0.215(via UDP: [10.0.0.115] : 32773) TRAP, SNMP v1, community abc SNMPv2-SMI: : enterprises.3.1.1 Cold Start Trap (0) Uptime: 7 days, 17:37:41.33
