How to get host's ip address?

Hi, buddies

I need to get some host's all IP addresses by snmp periodically. I try the RFC1213-MIB(IP-MIB::ipAdEntAddr.1)by snmpget, it reports "IP-MIB::ipAdEntAddr.1 = No Such Instance currently exists at this OID", and if I use IP-MIB::ipAdEntAddr.127.0.0.1 as the variable instance, it will be ok.

But why must I use ip address as the index of the OID to query it's own ip address? I think it's ironic, since if I've already known the ip address, I don't have to query it by snmp, right?
