snmpd does not start!!!

Hey people! Look, I try to start snmpd using the line: # /usr/sbin/snmpd But nothing happens... it seems the snmpd does not start. I search for it in the running processes (ps -A) after trying to start, but I find no snmpd running. So, what is it?! Something missed?!
