Hi, Usually in order to implement a specific OID into the agent, the OID has to be registered with a specific handle which is called when the user performs a request on that OID. My question follows. Is it a way to register a parent OID, i.e X.Y, with a generic handle to be called each time a request on a child scalar OID i.e X.Y.Z1, X.Y.Z2, , is performed. This would allow a generic implementation of a collection of OIDs. A MIB evolution which would add X.Y.Z3, X.Y.Z4 would not require an agent code update which is usually the case when every child OID is registered into the agent. The proper instrumentation could be easily done since the (child) OID is in the request (i.e. netsnmp_request_info).
