Fellow SNMP users,

I am installing NetSNMP V5.4.2 on a RH AS4 Linux machine.
I have a problem when making: the link step fails because the library /usr/lib64/libbeecrypt.la is not installed.
NetSNMP attempts to use this library because RPM is installed on the machine, and librpmio uses libbeecrypt.

Searching the net, I got the solution for the problem: install the beecrypt-devel RPM.

I also listed configure script options, and there is one option to install NetSNMP without RPM support. I tried this, and was able to successfully make and test NetSNMP.

My question is: is NetSNMP RPM support important or not? Should I install beecrypt or NetSNMP without RPM support?

Thankyou for your help,

Jorge
