I have a customer who is using Zenos and SNMPv3 to poll a pair of embedded machines that are running net-snmp-5.0.9 . I can't change the version of net-snmp unless I can show that this problem is fixed in a later version of net-snmp. The problem is that the polls work for about an hour on one machine and then fail to respond. The other machine works okay. I have verified that the snmpd.conf files have different engineIDs. I have packet captures in wireshark that show that one unit is replying with "report SNMP-USER-BASED-SM-MIB:usmStatsNotInTimewindows.0" The other unit responds with encryptedPDU: privkey unknown. Can somebody tell me what this means? My hypothesis is that the NMS and the snmpd engineIDs are getting out of sync for some reason. Does that make sense, and if so, what do I do about it? Can somebody point me to a specific bug that will motivate our software developers to upgrade the version?
