sending traps

Hi,

I have written a small c program which parses data received extracts some information and stores it in some variables.
Using this information I need to be able to make SNMP traps and forward them to the NMS.

Should I use the SNMP trap from within this program or write another c program which would create SNMP traps and send them to the NMS
