Some malformed packets have enough information to pass to the authentication service within the agent. If you do not want to have the agent emit authentication failure notifications then you need to set the snmpEnableAuthenTraps.0 object to 'disabled(2)' You can also set up tcpdump or wireshark to capture the on-the-wire SNMP messages to further inspect the Header and PDU contents.
