Hi

I wanted to write an agent in perl. Cpan search directed me to net-snmp.
I have been looking at net-snmp for a week or so.

Reading the docs it looked that it should be possible to write snmp agen in
perl.

But as I installed net-snmp and tried to create the perl agent it turned
out that the only perl agent I can write is one running imbedded in the
snmpd process.

Is it possible to write a perl agent - a standalone perl agent - not
started by snmp* daemon ?
By standalone I mean the agent can be started from shell prompt with
"/opt/acme/bin/perl /opt/acme/bin/my-snmp-agent"

if not, may be it is possible to tell snmpd daemon to use
/opt/acme/bin/perl interpreter when it sees the
"perl do /opt/acme/bin/my-agent.pl"
in the snmpd.conf ?

I have been banging my head with this for last 3 days, reinstalling perl
and net-snmp packs.
I do appreciate any hints/help

thanks
Bog
