RPM package that comes with my CentOS is version 5.3.1. I've experienced using netsnmp version 5.4.2.1 with RedHat and it is stable. I thought it gonna be so easy and stable having that version also in CentOS. I used to compile NetSNMP with --enable-embedded-perl --enable-shared. For the Perl 5.8.8 my mistake it's from the RPM of CentOS. I also used to install the NetSNMP perl separately to isolate the problem but still the same.
