Setting sysDescr with a module?

Hello,

I'd like to write a module for netsnmp, which sets among other values 
the system description, system location and so on.
When my module is loaded, it produces some errors like
netsnmp_assert !"registration != duplicate" failed
in the logfile. The System Description isn't replaced of course, neither 
one of the other settings.

Is it in general impossible to set these values with a module or is it 
my fault?

I use netsnmp version 5.4.2.1.
