What is the impact of commenting call to _check_interface_entry_for_updates in if-mib

Hello, I was trying to optimize some part of if-mib as my snmpd was consuming too much cpu slot. Also i came across "_check_interface_entry_for_updates()" calls taking a major part of cpu time. Wanted to check if i comment it out how bad the performance will be. I know the need for this function as it checks for any new entries or updates regularly. So just by commenting this or by simply returning at first line, how bad will be the impact. My use case would involve frequent add, remove and change of the interface data. So how bad will be the impact due to my mentioned changes to if-mib? Also please somebody suggest some basic snmpwalk, set & get commands to do some sanity tests for IF-mib and IP-Mib.
