About NETSNMP...Problem

hi,
   This is ganesh, one of among the netsnmp users.  I am  very new to network progrmmaing and for net-snmp.

I  installed  netsnmp5.5-x86 (binaries) on windows xp.

after installion,

i tested "net-snmp-perl-test.pl" the command


i got some result showing " test passed:...."


now i configued the agent with the following information ( as told in the tutorials)

c:>snmpconf

   1. Read none existing file.
   2. Chose to setup the snmpd.conf.
   3. Chose to setup the%20Access Control.
   4. Chose to setup a SNMPv1/SNMPv2c read-only access community name.
         1. community name: public
         2. network address to accept: localhost
   5. finished, finished, quit


now the snmpd.conf conatains only the below.

rocommunity public localhost

i have kept the snmpd.conf file at c:\usr\share\snmp\ and c:\usr\etc\snmp\

i re-started the agent.

I tried the following.

C:\>snmpget -v 2c -c public localhost system.sysDescr.0

SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = No Such Object available on this agent at this%2520OID

c:\>snmpget -v 1 -c public localhost system.sysDescr.0
 Error in packet.
 Reason: (noSuchName) There is no such variable name in this MIB.
 This name doesnot exist: system.sysDescr

Sometimes i got timeout: no response from localhost.


At the sametime log file (c:\usr\log\snmpd.log) contains the below.

Warning: no access control information configured.
It is unlikely this agent can serve any useful purpose in this state.
Run snmpconf -g basic_setup to help you configure the snmpd.conf  for this
agent .
Nesnmpversion5.5.


i am facing for 3 weeks the same problem.

help me in this regard.
