The commands: $ ls -l snmpd -rwx--x--x. 1 daves csc 7637 2010-03-12 11:43 ./snmpd $ ls -l ./snmpd -rwx--x--x. 1 daves csc 7637 2010-03-12 11:43 snmpd refer to exactly the same file.
