SNMP over IPv6

Hi there. I am attempting to connect to a host over IPv6, but when I provide the address, all I get is the following error: Unknown host (<addr>) (No such file or directory) I have been trying both snmpwalk and snmpget. My ultimate goal is to be able to do this programmatically. I have not yet delved into the source code, but I thought I'd see if anyone out there has managed to do this and can give me a pointer or two.
