  Hi Wes, thanks for the response.

  I put the following line in my snmpd.conf:

agentaddress udp6:[fe80::209:edff:fe00:16c9]:161

and received the following errors when I tried to restart the agent:

snmpd[26524]: Error opening specified endpoint
"udp6:[fe80::209:edff:fe00:16c9]:161"

snmpd[26524]: Server Exiting with code 1

  I notice that the error is different with this line, since I don't get
the complaint about name resolution that I get when I try to use
"udp6:161," e.g. snmpd[26454]: getaddrinfo: udp6 Temporary failure in
name resolution.

  I'll fiddle around with dual homing after I convince my agent to
respond to IPv6 requests.

  Does anybody actually deploy the net-snmp agent on IPv6 networks, or
is this one of those less-mature features?

  UPDATE: oh man, I just tried the following line and the agent seemed
to take it (snmpd appears to be running, no errors at restart), but I
have not yet tried any SNMP traffic on IPv6:

agentaddress udp:161 udp6:161

  I think the snmpd.conf man page may be off, since it seems to include
a comment delimiter in the agentaddress description.

  Thanks!

  Ron
