Hi, I have a general question about SNMPv3 authentication: I have two agents, one is active while the other is in standby mode. Both agents are configured with the same snmpEngineID value. Both agents are using authPriv security model. Authentication is by MD5 and Priv = DES. We are using USM model. When there is a switchover and standby agent becomes Active, the snmpv3 queries from the manager start failing. The error message in the report is: msgAuthenticationParameters: MISSING msgPrivacyParameters: MISSING I suspect that the values of "msgAuthoritativeEngineBoots" and "msgAuthoritativeEngineTime" change drastically when the standby agent becomes active. As the newly active agent and the previous Active agent has the same EngineID, the manager does not do a new "Agent Discovery" and the snmpv3 fails due to a big change in the msgAuthoritativeEngineBoots and msgAuthoritativeEngineTime. Am I correct ? Will this problem be resolved if the standby agent is configured with a different snmpEngineID ? Thanks much.
