I downloaded the net-snmp-5.6.rc1 version and try to install it on my PC under Cygwin.

after decompressing it, I used ./configure

it went through a check-list and an extensive setup.

Then, I tried to issue the command $ make, and the system cannot recognized the command.  I believe, Cygwin is mistaken the make with gcc make.

Am I missing something?  I checked the config.log generated by ./configure, and it had a message of "configure: exit 1"

As far as I know Net-SNMP 5.6.rc1 builds and runs fine under Cygwin. So there are probably one or more Cygwin packages missing on your setup. Have you already tried to run Cygwin's setup.exe to check whether the "make" package has been installed ?
