PPP Interfacetype - ifphyscaddress textual name

Hi, 

For few devices I am getting textual string like "INDIA-LINK", "LONDON-LINK" for OID
.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.6.x( ifphysaddress). This is for Iftype "PPP".

I am wondering how we can set custom text string to this OID as it is read-only. Kindly explain.

Also, if it is possible to set custom string, how we can read this as currently I am reading that OID in hex format.
