The main difference is that snmpgetnext is a one-shot command, that sends a single GetNext request, and reports the results regardless. snmpwalk sends a *series* of GetNext requests, and will stop reporting when it gets a response that it doesn't like. So for low-level debugging, "snmpgetnext" tends to be more useful, particularly if "snmpwalk" is giving odd results.
