New sub agent Implementation

i All,
I am newbie to snmp and i have to write an subagent for an
Enterprise mib, which gets registered with the master agent.
I have refered to the tutorial "NetSNMP subagent development manual" present
in the openhpi.sourgeforge.net.
It is mentioned that we should have a main routine which does the
registrations and the initalizations of call backs for creations of rows and
to made the changes in the rows.....
1. Is it mandatory that subagent initialization have a main()----which
implies that will become a process.
2. Is it possible for me to have the sub agent initialization as part of my
thread ?
