Few more on this.... 1) what is the use of getbulk ? as per the books, instead of many getnext we can use getbulk and can minimize data traffic. but whats the best example for using getbulk? Any particular table? 2) regarding standard MIB implementation, how do we compile this. I heard we provide the RFC as input to compiler !! And how is this compilation different to private MIB? 3) whats the difference between Notification/inform and trap? 4) is there anything in SNMP which addresses storing the data ? Mean to say data archiving ! 5) This is regarding data types like gauge , counters . I see these are the data types provided by SNMP/ASN/SMI, but implementation should be based on the data type behavior. is it correct. Or there will be internal check for the ranges in the agent for these? 6) what is the use of BITS type in SNMP? 7) how is enumaration type useful in snmp? 8) if i want to define my own data type in SNMP how can i do that. Is textual convention used for this purpose?
