Fetching system UUID using SNMP

Hi All,

   I am trying to find a way to identify the system's UUID. The system could
be a linux machine , a storage controllers or any other devices in the
data-center ?

  1.  Need to know which OID would give the value of the system UUID ?
  2.  Can I use the same OID for every system to get the UUIID details ?
  3.  RFC 4122 does mentions about the UUID. It includes that
iso.3.6.1.1.16.1 will give the value of the UUID :-

       But I got an error when I was fetching value from this UUID :-
*         Command :#  snmpget -v 1 -c public <System IP Address>
iso.3.6.1.1.16.1
         Got an error :- Failed object: SNMPv2-SMI::directory.16.1

       How to use this and fetch the UUD ?

*  4.  My aim is to use my solution in the data-center to capture UUID
details of every system.
  5.  I have seen some software populating  the UUID system information
using only IP address and SNMP protocol to get the system details.
  6.  Is there any simple solution which does not require any changes in the
existing systems ?
