All, I am currently working on a java project. someone else has implemented an snmp listener. trying to save time on coding we decided to try and use net-smnp to send out snmp messages. I am really new to snmp. actually I have no knowledge at all. I am wanting to use the snmptrap command line application to send a generic snmp message that contains the all the general information with a String that can be parsed from the listener already implemented. I really don't understand the man page, or even the tutorials online. can anyone help me set up a message that contains the information about the machine I am sending it from and a string that I wish to send. The receiving side will take an action based on the contents of that string. Thank you in advance.
