I have several dozen applications, mix of programming language, that i want to trigger traps on certain events. Each of these apps can write to syslog. I was thinking of writing a tool that tailed the /var/log/messages file and grepped for pattern and on matching, called snmptrap. I might start w/a bash script, but rewrite it in c with pcre and net-snmp libs because it should be fairly efficient. Has anyone considered this before, is there already a tool for this, or maybe there is a better way? Thanks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Virtualization & Cloud Management Using Capacity Planning Cloud computing makes use of virtualization - but cloud computing also focuses on allowing computing to be delivered as a service. http://www.accelacomm.com/jaw/sfnl/114/51521223/ _______________________________________________ Net-snmp-users mailing list [email protected] Please see the following page to unsubscribe or change other options: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/net-snmp-users
