I'm having problem interpreting the man and wiki pages correctly. I'd like to turn on debug-level logging for snmptrapd to help debug a different issue. The line I tried adding in /etc/snmp/snmptrapd.conf is the following: logOption LS7d I thought that meant: L == logging S == syslog, with uppercase S meaning I want to specify the level 7 == syslog debug level d == daemon facility, which normally goes to /var/log/daemon.log Problem is I'm definitely not seeing debug-level logging. The only thing I see in /var/log/daemon.log are these messages when I restart net-snmp: Apr 18 14:03:34 Stephane-dev-vm snmpd[22700]: Received TERM or STOP signal... shutting down... Apr 18 14:03:34 Stephane-dev-vm snmptrapd[22703]: 2012-04-18 14:03:34 NET-SNMP version 5.4.2.1 Stopped. Apr 18 14:03:34 Stephane-dev-vm snmptrapd[22703]: Stopping snmptrapd Apr 18 14:03:36 Stephane-dev-vm snmpd[22718]: Turning on AgentX master support. Apr 18 14:03:36 Stephane-dev-vm snmpd[22718]: NET-SNMP version 5.4.2.1 Apr 18 14:03:37 Stephane-dev-vm snmptrapd[22721]: NET-SNMP version 5.4.2.1 AgentX subagent connected Apr 18 14:03:37 Stephane-dev-vm snmptrapd[22722]: NET-SNMP version 5.4.2.1 If someone can help me understand the right format for that logOption line, I'd be very happy! :) Stéphane ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Better than sec?
