Size of executable!

Hi !

A little question about the compilation and the size of the executable. At
the first time i was using this executable on a ubuntu machine! The size of
the executable without strip it is nearly 16,9ko. I was using the makefile
given in some example in order to create the example-demon.

After that i compile a version of net-snmp for an Arm and make some
changement on the makefile in order to use the cross-compilator. The
application is working on my target but now it's weigthed around 1.9MB Oo

If you need more details about my configuration, my files used, and others
ask me :)
I search what i have done wrong why my executable for my target is so big?
Is there a link about static and dynamic library?
