Hi,

Based on the manpage http://www.net-snmp.org/docs/man/snmpd.conf.html I
added the following line to my snmpd.conf file

trapsess -Ci -v 3 -u my_mon_user -a MD5 -A pass2 -x DES -X pass1 -l
authPriv udp:localhost:162 which resulted in that I managed to get a
coldStart
inform from my snmpd. After running sudo ifconfig eth0 down I managed to
receive a linkdown. So that solved it.
