net-snmp 5.7.3 will default to the modern version of this and other
MIBs.  For now you can test it by checking out a git tree and building
that.

By the way, you (or your vendor) may be interested to know that the
SMIv2 definition of "deprecated" specifically permits "new/continued
implementation in order to foster interoperability with older/existing
implementations".
