Hi, When specifying a snmpv3 user in trapsess the password is in clear text. When running the net-snmp snmptrapd tool this is not an issue since then the user is a configured user on snmptrapd and not on the agent. But when I am running the tool loriotpro to capture traps it is an other mater http://www.loriotpro.com/ServiceAndSupport/How_to/howto_snmpv3_cisco_EN.php This tool is using the Key Localization Algorithm. https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2274#section-2.6 The key is generated from the password of an user on the agent which forces me to configure the trapsess in the snmpd.conf file to use an agent which then is typed in clear text in the file. Is this a typical solution for snmp tools? Why using usm to handle the users when this forces us anyway to type the username and password in clear text when configuring traps? Or am I missing something?
