Net-SNMP 5.4.5.RC1 (Release Candidate 1) Available

Net-SNMP 5.4.5.rc1 is now available for testing at

  https://sourceforge.net/projects/net-snmp/files/5.4.5-pre-releases/

NOTE WELL:

- The 5.4.5 release will be the last release in the 5.4 line.
- The 5.7 line has many more bug fixes and is the currently
  recommended release for all users.

Below is a summary of the major changes in 5.4.5.

for a comprehensive listing of all changes made to the code.

    snmplib:
      - BUG: 2768: Fix decoding of unsigned integers

    snmp:
      - BUG: 2788: fix memory leaks in error paths.
      - BUG: 2452: fix core dump from bad data to snmp_add_var
      - BUG: 2741: Fix counters for 10Gb interfaces on FreeBSD.
      - BUG: 2622: Fix excessive indents in log file
      - BUG: 3526549: CVE-2012-2141 Array index error leading to
    crash

    snmpd:
      - BUG: 3532090: Fix high ifIndex values crashing hrDeviceDescr

    building:
      - PATCH: 2091156: correctly declare dependencies in Makefile.
    'make -j <N>' should work now. Backport this to V5-4 as it is
    needed for correct operation in the single threaded case of
    make miblib as well.

    misc:
      - Many more bug fixes, listed in the CHANGES and ChangeLog
    files
