Question on SNMP 3

Hi , I started working in SNMP v3. Here I am configuring engine ID statically. Getting Error in below scenario. Explained one example below:: 1. Setting engineID first time Like this engineid896 2. Second time Setting engineID to 800954322876 3. Third time if I enter same as first one engineid896. My snmpd is killed and it is not up again. Is this way if setting engine ID is correct?
