Error log Checking

Has anyone had any luck in setting up a more robust error logging setup? I need to check the error logs on about 14 AIX servers and I would like to search for about 100 different error codes. I really don't want to have to set up 100 different checks. I set the aggregate write delay to 10 seconds, but then after a couple of minutes NetSaint starts not updating the status.log file at all. With aggregate writes turned off, status.log updating happens normally. But extremely often (3000 checks configured) 2) With the option of "-1" for external command read (i.e.: immediate read) NetSaint runs off and consumes all available memory. After an hour or two NetSaint has used up 3.5GB of swap and 900MB of real memory. With the read interval set to positive values (1) this does not happen but the delay in reading the external command pipe can sometimes be a significant length. Anyone else noticed this behaviour? Ways to correct it? Make sure u have created the directory "netsaint" in /var/www/cgi-bin/ Also check your config file, nscgi.cfg at http://www.netsaint.org/docs/0_0_7/configcgi.html Pls recall what were the parameters u passed to the ./configure file during the configuration of NetSaint (eg. ./configure --with-cgiurl=/cgi-bin/netsaint/ ... ) This has to match the one in the config file. Regarding ur entries in the httpd.conf file..I dont think its necessary to make these entries for netsaint : **** AllowOverride AuthConfig order allow,deny allow from all **** I suppose it will work without that too (though nagios requires it) If all the above doesnt work..try running this as a superuser ..I dunno if it will help in ur case. This has been discussed quit a lot on this list 2 GSM modems (Falcon, Wavecomm) and 'SMS Link' (see SourceForge) You need a special modem but you get lots of benefits. For example, in Australia, VodaPhones modem SMS gateway - outsourced - went away for over a fortnight. My employer bought a GSM modem ($100-150 US 12-18 months ago). 3 plain old modem interface to providers SMS gateway using Angelos 'SMS Client' (see SF again). You probably want an email interface because that is fast - doesn't hang Netsaint - and easy to use. I changed the httpd.conf file to read Server 10.1.1.1 Alias /netsaint/ /usr/local/netsaint/share/ AllowOverride AuthConfig order allow,deny allow from all ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/netsaint/ /usr/local/netsaint/sbin/ AllowOverride AuthConfig order allow,deny allow from all restarted the httpd service, all ok there, the logged in, the Authentication into netsaint worked fine with the access.conf file. Then clicked on the links for each page and the error is 404 unable to locate /var/www/cgi-bin/netsaint/file.cgi for this server Checked the netsaint.cfg and nscgi.cfg and seems to be in order according to the documentation. Been working on the for close to 2 weeks now and no luck. The apache user is part of the netsaint group and the permissions to netsaint directory and sub is set to 755. Tried moving the cgi files to the cgi-bin/netsaint directory but it did not work, not like iis. HELP!!!!!
