I haven't done an install on RH8 but this could be the same problem as
RH7.3 and Netsaint 0.0.7. The output from the ping command was changed.
There are plenty of previous postings regarding ping and Redhat 7.3.
Basically you need to compile netsaint with an older version of ping
(say from Redhat 7.2) in place of the Redhat 7.3 (or RH8) ping, as it
has a different format. Once compiled, you can then put the original
Redhat 7.3 ping back in place and use the Nagios check_ping which will
work with the Redhat 7.3 ping format.
