I have a question regarding a distributed NetSaint environment. I have set up a distributed server to monitor hosts behind a firewall. As such the Central netsaint server does not have access to them. i.e. it can not ping them. The distributed server is behind the firewall. I have setup nrpep and nsca to do the monitoring. The set up is as follows. Central SERVER host[hostname1]=hosts Server;ip address;;;3;120;24x7;1;1;1; service[hostsname1]=Disk /;0;none;3;5;1;admins;240;24x7;1;1;0;;check_nrpep!check_disk0 Distributed Server host[hostname1]=hosts Server;ip address;;;3;120;24x7;1;1;1; service[hostsname1]=Disk /;0;24X7;3;5;1;admins;240;office_hrs;1;1;0;;check_nrpep!check_disk0 My question is where can I place a "check_hosts_alive" command?
