Unfortunately it has never worked, we were trying to learn how to use it
internally before we set up a public web server.  I'm going to try what you
got suggested and let you know if it works or not.

Problems in config files are hard to spot: the Netsaint parser provides
only limited help.

The only effective way I have found of reducing the risk of such faults
is source control (RCS, SCCS etc) of the config files so it is very easy
to go back to the last (checked in) working version.

You can always check the config with the -v switch

<path_to_netsaint>/bin/netsaint -v <path_to_netsaint>/etc/netsaint.cfg.

Depending on how you start Netsaint, there may be a check argument in
the Netsaint startup command ( I don't know RH so I can't comment).

You may have to get a known working host.cfg - eg the skeleton supplied
with Netsaint - to try and work out where the problem is.

Has it ever worked ?
