Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Those seeking to reduce the burden of adding trap support to Netsaint/Nagios may find mr Alex Burgers SNMPTT (SNMP Trap Translator) interesting. Quick highlights . digests MIBS and assimilates traps . works with Net-SNMP . multi platform/Perl (claimed to work with NT) . becomes the default (ie __only__) trap handler for snmptrapd . almost certainly can work with Netsaint/Nagios but will still need at least one shim to translate its results to a passive service check. However this shim may only need something like a hash containing Netsaint/Nag hostnames and service descriptions. It's at http://snmptt.sourceforge.net/. Has anyone had any experience with it ? Yours sincerely. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Stanley Hopcroft ------------------------------------------------------------------------ '...No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were. Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee...' from Meditation 17, J Donne. ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf
