Hi, I have a problem with nrpep on solaris. I monitor a number of servers and use nrpep to execute plugins on the hosts. The results from nrpep on the NetSaint server is sometimes garbage (unencrypted??) The service information show text in the form of or some variant of this - ?ÎA9¿t48¦hÿû The thing is that this is not constant. Sometimes the service checks are OK and sometimes a number of service check on different hosts are effected. It appears more common on some of the hosts. Testing the service check on the monitored hosts always produces the correct result. I have edited the check_nrpep plugin lines - Changing line 149 of check_nrpep to: $errorcode =~ s/^RC:\s*//; Testing from the NetSaint server gives the results below. # /usr/local/netsaint/libexec/check_nrpep -h HOST1 -c check_disk1 DISK OK - [264113 kB (3%) free on /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s4] # /usr/local/netsaint/libexec/check_nrpep -h HOST2 -c check_disk1 Use of uninitialized value at /usr/local/netsaint/libexec/check_nrpep line 149, <SOCK> chunk 3. Use of uninitialized value at /usr/local/netsaint/libexec/check_nrpep line 150, <SOCK> chunk 3. ?ÎA9¿t48¦hÿû Could this be an encryption issue or a network latency issue Many of the monitored hosts are at the end of 64Kb links Environment Solaris 7 and Netsaint 007 Thanks Joe ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf
