Thanks very much for the reply, but I think your proxy is what is fixing
the problem for you. Remember the proxy is relaying your connection,
which means that it dissects your request and then rebuilds it to make
the backend request. 

I believe that in your case the proxy you are using (squid most likely)
has been around for quite some time and caters for such minor mistakes,
and then makes a correctly structured request when if fetches the
source. 

If you be so kind as to do a tcpdump on the proxy, I would guess that
this is the case. I very much appreciate the help, and realize that you
have better things to do, so if there is anyone else that could test
this (not through a proxy)and post the results I would love to know the
outcome.
