As a first resort I check the RPC-port
	# The next command tests the availability of NIS-sevice
	# by checking the appropriate rpc
	command[check_nis_service]=$USER1$/check_rpc -H $HOSTADDRESS$ -C
ypserv

Ciao

Subject: [netsaint] NIS checks.

    Setup:
    Netsaint verion 0.0.6 (Yeah, ancient. It's not broke and I don't
    have the resources to upgrade right now) running on a Linux box.

    Requirement: To verify that NIS (ypserv) is running on 2 servers.
    That ypbind is running on 100+ clients.

    Google doesn't have any answers for me.

    Recommendations?
