Hi all, Problem: When using nrpe - i get the error message, "are we allowed to connect to the host?" Scenario: The plugins are all correctly configured as everything works 99% of the time. Sometimes (perhaps when network congestion is at its height) i get this error message relating to multiple hosts. I have played with timeout values (roughly at 240 seconds now) and the usual "timeouts" with plugin "warning and critical" have stopped. Usually this error message is received if a plugin is not correctly configured (on remote host) where the "allowed_hosts" parameter in nrpe.cfg is not correct. The nrpe.cfg in question is correctly configured and therefore this error doesnt make sense globally. Any ideas ?? Thanks for your time and patience, Have a great day! Note: I tried to add the "command timeout" in nrpe.cfg, but the daemon dies with an error - was thinking maybe this would help the situation. (so need to leave it hashed out, else nrpe wont start) # COMMAND TIMEOUT # This specifies the maximum number of seconds that the NRPE daemon will # allow plugins to finish executing before killing them off. #command_timeout=60 BUT nrpe daemon dies with an error. Thanks again for any thoughts on this new info!! My Netsaint installation for this ONE host says it pages me when something goes wrong but it never does. I'm using the same user and contact-group that I use for other hosts and I get pages from other hosts/services. It just seems to be this one host. How do I troubleshoot why it's not sending pages for this one host/service? According to the "notifications" it pages me and emails me but I don't get anything. How can I follow the steps it's trying to send the email? ----------------------------------- Scott Baker - Webster Internet Network Engineer - RHCE [email protected] - 503.266.8253 --__--__-- _______________________________________________ Netsaint-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/netsaint-users End of Netsaint-users Digest ********************************************************************** This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
