Hi, folks. I've finally gotten around to producing an official release
of NoCatSplash, the C-based successor to the NoCatAuth gateway. You
can get it from:

Open mode works, and passive mode is implemented as a compile-time
option, but it's probably broken. Patches welcome. Only Linux is
supported at the moment, but *BSD is entirely within the realm of
possibility. Network autodetection has been implemented. Those of you
who care will be glad to know that multithreading has been removed, in
favor of more judicious use of the main event loop. The result is a
binary which, when linked statically against GLib and stripped of
debugging symbols, is a mere 80k, meaning that it will probably even
fit on floppy distribution. You can find out more in the README file
available from the download directory.

Enjoy!
