You know, that's very strange. Try running configure
--with-firewall=iptables and let me know if that works.

adding the --with-firewall=iptables works. 
I did get one error:

find: /libexec/: No such file or directory 


/usr/local/sbin/splashd 

was created

Side question
I have nocatnightly running using a local passwd file and it's running great.
Is there a document that explains the difference between NoCatSplash and Nocat Auith ?
