accounting with SQL

Hi, 
 
I have successfully set up a first same machine setup of nocat and I am 
now looking for user accounting as well, preferably with SQL. I read 
myself through a lot of articles on the mailing list, but I am not sure 
whether anybody really has managed to get things running well - 
unfortunately the wiki is still down I hoped to find something in there. 
 
Can anybody give me a short description of the actual state of accounting 
with SQL? a lot of mailing list entries on this topic are a year old now 
and back then they still mentioned problems when installing radius patch 
and then sql patch.
