I've never had this problem before. I have only had internal 500 errors and it's always been related to the pgp keys. Either location or permissions.

  Check your PGP keys and make sure they are correct (and have the correct permissions) between the gateway and the auth-server...also check the system time and make sure that the gateway and the auth-server are in sync.

I get directed to a directory listing rather then the default splash
screen. If I click on the splash.html page in the directory listing, I
get variables rather then the values of the variables and clicking on
the accept button doesn't work.
