The only use for the xml was in debugging anyway, so as long as there is sufficient debugging information, it is useless. Speed is the most important factor, in my opinion. The reason for the binary protocol was to make a more efficient mechanism and in general that has happened. The binary protocol helps to avoid XML writing and parsing between the CIM Server and CIM provider agents which reduces the overhead drastically. The reason we consider removing the option and start working with the binary only protocol is simply to reduce the code complexity. The default for a while now is to use the binary protocol, actually matter of fact is that the XML option is broken for close to a year now (since OP 2.10). Please supply your opinions and reasons for either keeping this option or removing it and we will discuss. I am especially interested in use cases for keeping this option.
